Riverton Downtowners - March 2025 Agenda
Riverton Downtowners: February 2025 Minutes
February 12, 2025
Attendees: Tracy, Carol, Shelle, Sheila, James, Brandie Olson (Wyoming Community Finance), Tina (Jade Shop), Lindsey (Fremont Local Market), Morgan (Fremont Local Market), Sheila and Ted McCool, City Council Larsen
Guest Speaker, Riverton PD
Steven – PD.
Talked about what to do when ppl shoplift, tips to be safe in your
store. We are nearly 4X the National
average for crime rate. Note: if someone is in our store and you notice
they stole something, you can lock them in.
You can also go hand to hand with them.
Store owners can also put photos/videos of ppl on their social media as
well.
Jeff Manning – PD talked about cameras and mounting. Don’t mount too high, don’t mount facing the
sun for ½ the day. Make sure they’re not
blocked by trees or for example, Christmas décor. Be sure to update when you get system
upgrades from the manufacturer. Outdoor
cameras should be approx. 10 feet in height, indoor ones should be lower to
show the actual heights of perpetrators.
One good thing to have for parking lots is signage saying
“No Trespassing”, this gives the officers more “teeth” when they arrive.
Parking question about parking on Main, if they park there during the restricted hours of 3am – 6am, we can call and get it towed but it the county. Downtowners is working on an ordinance to bring back the 2 hour time limit restrictions.
Treasurer: $3280. After paying out for Advertising, Jerrys for the sleigh ride and porta potties. Motion: Brandie, Second: Ted McCool
Vice President Vote – Nominations: Tina Barnett (Jade Shop) – Motion: Shelle, Second – Sheila McCool. Vote passed.
Events Updates:
Shelle gave updates on the wedding walk, signage is In and will be
distributed.
Let’s Rock Riverton:
Saturday, June 21st. 10am – 6pm Downtown. Carol and Tina Barnett heading this
committee. Sidewalk sales, crazy days,
line dancing, bands. Parking for this
event in that lot, we will be sending a letter to Teton residents to move their
vehicles or move them to one section.
Rock Vendors (as in stones) will have booths in the parking lot. We will be adding a 5K the morning of the
event as well (Traci is going to be in charge of this). Line Dancing will be the senior center and
hopefully Motion Bliss will participate as well.
We will be unveiling our community kiosk at this event as
well.
Downtowners booth – rock painting, fund raising.
Presidents Corner:
(Traci) We will be sending out
the minutes out after meetings and if anyone has any questions, they can attend
the next meeting to discuss.
We need committees for a Grant Committee and one to
revise the mission statement and bylaws.
We have cards for everyone to sign for members in our
corridor that are struggling as a little pick me up.
There is a quilt show going on, if you need a quilt, let Traci know and she will help get quilts into shops.
Open Forum:
Morgan from the Chamber updated us with their next
meeting info, it will be on Feb 20th 5-7pm. Food and drink will be provided. Next Lunch and Learn will be 3/7/2025 at
CWC.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15pm.
